Subaru’s lightweight sports car has a new special edition car for 2026.
The company launched the 2026 BRZ 雷 Kaminari Edition, which is limited to just 50 cars in Canada. It sports a yellow paint called Sunrise Yellow.
The limited-edition car has a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $39,495, which with fees and levies gives it a selling price of $42,135.
The Kaminari Edition car follows the 2025 BRZ 紫 Murasaki Edition, which sported a purple colour called Galaxy Purple Pearl and was limited to 100 cars in Canada.
What is the Kaminari Edition edition?
The word kaminari translates to lightning in English.
The Kaminari Edition is based on the BRZ tS, which would otherwise be the top trim level of the car’s model range.
The special-edition car gets Brembo high-performance brakes with gold-painted calipers Hitachi-Astemo front dampers, which Subaru said improve stopping power and driving dynamics.
There is also a low-profile spoiler finished in gloss black, fender vent accents and 10-spoke 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels finished in matte black.
An STI flexible V-bar has been added under the hood to increase vehicle stiffness and improve performance.
On the inside, the car gets yellow interior accents on black leather and Ultrasuede seats and door panels, as well as yellow accent stitching inside.
The BRZ is a rear-wheel-drve 2+2 coupe powered by a 2.4-litre boxer engine with 228 hp. The BRZ is a twin of the Toyota GR86, with which it was jointly developed.
