Who says vehicle prices only go up?

Hyundai Canada has managed, without fanfare or any announcement, to lower the price of its Kona Electric SUV for the 2026 model year.

The Kona is also available with an internal combustion engine (ICE), but that version is not dropping in price.

The 2026 Kona EV’s manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) has been lowered by $2,500 to $43,999, according to the Hyundai Canada online configurator.

Once fees and levies are tacked on, the starting price of the 2026 Kona Electric comes to $46,988. In 2025, the same EV would have cost you $49,488.

The compact SUV entered its second generation for the 2024 model year.

It features a 64.8-kWh capacity battery and a 201-hp electric motor powering the front wheels. It has a 420-kilometre Natural Resources Canada-estimated driving range.

It comes standard with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Standard safety and comfort features include adaptive cruise control with traffic stop and go, blind-spot collision warning, driver attention warning, forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian, cyclist, junction-turning and direct-oncoming detection, high beam assist, heated steering wheel and more.

For 2026, the Kona Electric is available in just one trim, with several available options.
