Bugatti Automobiles has dropped another YouTube episode related to the development of its latest hypercar, the Tourbillon.
This episode discusses the car’s interior design.
“The role of an interior designer is to, of course, design a full vehicle cabin from the first sketches all the way to production. Be we need to consider many aspects in this journey – not only Bugatti’s DNA, and making sure we honour all of the marque’s stylistic cues, but also develop a theme; a user sequence that is understandable,” said Ignacio Martinez, chief interior designer, in a news release.
The car’s name is derived an early 19th-century watchmaking innovation called tourbillon. Tourbillon watches utilize an escapement and balance wheel that are mounted in a rotating cage, giving the watch’s mechanics a balanced and uniform weight, with the intention of reducing or eliminating errors.
The automaker said the aspect of timelessness played a central role in the creation of the interior design.

The interior of the Tourbillon car puts that concept front and centre with an analogue driver instrument cluster.
The fixed-hub steering wheel also integrates user controls and paddle-shifters within a seamless rim, rotating around a central airbag.
Within the instrument cluster, each gear and mechanism was developed with master watchmakers in Switzerland.
Bugatti said the dials are intended to highlight mechanical beauty.
The analogue instrument cluster is reminiscent of the refined, mechanical simplicity of past Bugatti models, the automaker said.
The car’s human-machine interface is entirely analogue, and this was done by choice.
“Everything in the interior of the Tourbillon is connected semantically to the art of watchmaking. By keeping this approach alive and thriving through pencils, hands and minds, we ensure the experience of driving the Tourbillon will remain timeless for years to come,” Martinez said.
