Kia Canada has announced pricing for the all-new K4 Hatchback, and the starting price undercuts its segment competitors as well as its own price in the U.S.
The 2026 Kia K4 Hatchback has a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $24,795, which is $500 more than the K4 sedan.
Once various fees and levies are factored in, the starting Canadian price is $27,390.
In the U.S., the car starts at $26,085 (USD), destination charge included. By today’s (Dec. 22) exchange rate, that works out to $35,874 of our Canadian loonies, a difference of more than $8,000 Canadian dollars.
Part of the reason for that starting price difference is we’re getting the LX trim as our entry-level model, while in the U.S. the K4 Hatchback starts with the EX, one up from our LX, which costs an additional $2,800 here.
Another issue that likely adds to the U.S. price is that country’s 25 per cent tariff on the non-CUSMA-compliant portion of Mexican-made cars. Canada’s tariff rate on Mexican cars: zero per cent.
Kia K4 Hatchback’s competitors
As hinted above, the K4 Hatchback also undercuts the competitors in its segment. These include the hatchback versions of the Toyota Corolla (starting MSRP of $24,820), Mazda3 ($26,000) and Honda Civic ($32,200).
There are some subcompact “SUVs” – think more headroom, less legroom – that cost less, but if you are looking for a compact car experience with a hatchback, the K4 is basically as affordable as it gets.
About 2026 Kia K4 Hatchback
