The Volvo EX90 electric SUV is not being discontinued, but it will not be available in Canada for the 2026 model year.
Canada’s counter-tariffs on vehicles assembled in the United States are to blame. The EX90 is assembled in South Carolina. The counter-tariff rate is 25 per cent on vehicles imported from the U.S.
“We are not offering the MY26 in Canada as we continue to evaluate the tariff situation,” a Volvo Cars Canada spokesperson said via email.
The EX90 only just launched for the 2025 model year. At the time of its launch then-Volvo Cars chief executive Jim Rowan called it “the best car we have ever made.”
The three-row electric SUV has an electric powertrain with 510 hp and a driving range of 499 kilometres.
Zero to 100 km/h is said to arrive in 4.9 seconds.
The 2025 EX90 has a Canadian starting price of $113,439 (MSRP of $110,000 plus fees and levies).
Canadians have time to buy it
Canadians who are hoping to snag an EX90 can still do so.
The Volvo Cars Canada spokesperson said the company still has a “healthy supply” of 2025 EX90s for anyone who is interested in one.
Full vehicle details are available on the Volvo Cars Canada website.
