Owners of classic Porsches will have an easier time of keeping the interiors of their cars looking like new.
That’s because Porsche has reissued a series of historic fabrics, which owners can order through their local Porsche centre or the automaker’s online shop.
That means owners of classics such as the 356, older 911s and some newer model vehicles will be able to purchase iconic fabric patterns such as Pasha, Pepita and tartan.
“By reissuing these fabrics we are closing a gap, because most customers want to restore their historic or more recent classic cars to their original condition as closely as possible,” said Ulrike Lutz, director classic at Porsche, in a news release.
“It was particularly important to us in this project that we maintain our quality promise with the fabrics. Unfortunately, there are many imitations on the market that are either not at all suitable as seat fabric or lose their appearance after a short time. That’s why we want to offer our customers a tested original alternative again.”
The automaker said these reissued fabrics will make it possible for owners to restore their car’s interior to its original condition, including replacing worn and torn fabrics, or to bring back the original look on cars that may have been retrofitted with non-original fabrics.
Porsche said the fabrics meet its quality standards, including feel, durability and accuracy. The textiles also undergo tests for fire resistance, light and colour fastness and abrasion resistance.
Fabrics are available in sizes of 1.5 by two metres.

Other classic fabrics that are also newly available include 964 Multicolour in cobalt blue, Porsche lettering fabric in olive green, pinstripe velour in black and white, Porsche lettering in midnight blue, and Porsche lettering in black.
Porsche said it is planning to release more fabric colours, including pinstripes in the company’s “lobster” orange colour.
