Stellantis is now officially cooking with gas at the Windsor assembly plant.

The automaker announced production has officially begun on the all-new gasoline-powered Dodge Charger cars.

The plant had been producing the Dodge Charger Daytona electric vehicles since the 2024 model year, but now the gasoline-powered versions of the Charger are being assembled there as well.

The initial gas-powered version being assembled is the the two-door 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack car with a SIXPACK (inline-six) engine that produces 550 hp and 531 lb.-ft. of torque.

Eventually a four-door version of the car will be added to the Windsor assembly plant, as will two-door and four-door versions of the SIXPACK-powered Charger R/T, which gets a power output of 420 hp and 468 lb.-ft. of torque.

All-wheel drive is standard on all versions.

“Today marks a proud milestone for Stellantis, the Dodge brand and our Canadian team as we celebrate the production launch of the all-new SIXPACK-powered Dodge Charger Scat Pack,” said Trevor Longley, Stellantis Canada president and CEO, in a news release. “Assembled in Windsor, Dodge Charger offers customers the freedom to choose ICE or BEV powertrains to fit their lifestyle and blends raw performance with cutting-edge innovation.”

“This is the next big step in the launch of the all-new Dodge Charger multi-energy muscle car lineup with the start of production of the new 550-hp, SIXPACK-powered Dodge Charger Scat Pack,” Dodge CEO Matt McAlear said in the release. “The Unifor-represented employees at Windsor Assembly are assembling a new Charger lineup that has already won multiple awards, including Ward’s 10 Best Interiors, Ward’s 10 Best Propulsion Systems and a MotorWeek Drivers’ Choice award, and delivers power of choice through a true multi-energy platform.”

SIXPACK creating jobs

In anticipation of high demand, Stellantis is planning to reintroduce a third shift at the plant in early 2026.

This third shift will create 1,500 new jobs.

Interviews and hiring are already underway.

Stellantis employees at the dormant Brampton plant can, if they wish, transfer to the vacant positions in Windsor.

The plant also produces the Chrysler Pacifica minivan and its less-expensive versions, the Grand Caravan for Canada and Voyager for the United States.
