Jeep has unveiled the much-anticipated Recon, the company’s first fully electric SUV to wear the brand’s Trail Rated badge.
The Recon is launching for the 2026 model year and production for Canada and the United States will begin in early 2026. Other markets will be added afterwards.
“The 2026 Jeep Recon is a bold step forward for the brand, an all-electric SUV that stays true to our core values of freedom, adventure and capability. It’s trail-rated, purpose-built and ready to take Jeep enthusiasts into the future without compromising the legendary performance they expect,” Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf said in a news release. “With the Jeep Recon, we’re proving that electrification isn’t just compatible with off-road excellence, it can elevate it, delivering instant torque, precision control and a quieter, more connected driving experience that’s uniquely Jeep.”

Powertrain
The Recon features a 4xe powertrain, an electric four-wheel-drive system, with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system, which features multiple drive modes for a variety of terrain types.
The powertrain also provides up to 650 hp and 620 lb.-ft. of torque, with maximum torque being available instantly.
Jeep said the Recon will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds. The electric range is estimated at 400 kilometres (250 miles).
Power is sent to the electric motors via an 100-kWh, 400-volt battery pack.
The automaker said engineers set up the throttle pedal to deliver torque in a controlled manner for an improved off-road driving experience.
The Recon has classic Jeep-style removable doors, swing gate glass and rear quarter glass.

Off-road capability
The Moab trim features rear electric drive modules with a 15:1 final drive ratio, which the company explained delivers a high level of torque multiplication so that the driver can power through challenging conditions.
An electronic locking differential ensures torque is applied to both rear wheels when engaged. The driver can operate the differential from open to fully locked.
At the front, the EDM has an 11:1 final drive ratio, which Jeep said balances performance and comfort. The front axle can also disconnect automatically at each wheel to help conserve energy during regular on-road driving.
The Moab trim rides on 33-inch tires and has 23.1 centimetres (9.1 inches) of ground clearance. The Moab trim also has a 33.8-degree approach angle, 33.1-degree departure angle and 23.3-degree breakover angle.
The Recon’s Selec-Speed Control feature allows drivers to set a speed, which the SUV will maintain, allowing the driver to focus on steering, such as on challenging terrain.
An available Rock drive mode on the Moab trim tailors the throttle pedal response to manage progress over uneven terrain. The drive mode also features a hill hold feature, which allows the driver to take their foot off the brake to the gas pedal without the vehicle moving on them.

Technology
This off-roader is loaded with technology, including a total of 26 inches of screens, including a 12.3-inch driver screen and 14.5-inch infotainment screen.
Infotainment is powered by Uconnect 5.
Drivers can use the screen to access Jeep’s Trails Offroad app, which offers a guide to trails in Canada and the U.S., including pitch and roll mapping.
Canadian pricing will be announced at a future date.
The automaker said the Recon was fitted with more than 170 standard safety and security features.
