Honda Canada has announced pricing for the relaunched Prelude.

The 2026 Honda Prelude will arrive at Canadian dealerships beginning in late November.

The starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $49,990. With fees and levies included, that brings the car to a starting price of approximately $52,987.50. Fees and levies may vary by location.

The car will only be available in a single trim in Canada, so the price you see is basically it, save for any additional features buyers may select.

What is the Prelude?

Honda revived the Prelude name after more than two decades. Previous iterations of the Prelude car were based on the Honda Civic, but with their own styling and given a sportier edge.

The newest version is a sporty two-door car with a hybrid-electric powertrain with 200 hp and 232 lb.-ft. of torque. It is the exact same powertrain that also powers the current Honda Civic Hybrid. Power is sent to the front wheels.

The car also features various sporty enhancements, including chassis hardware taken from the Civic Type R, including that sporty car’s suspension.

The car also has Brembo brakes with 13.8-inch rotors and four-piston calipers up front, while the rear rotors measure 12 inches.

The Prelude also debuts Honda’s S+ Shift system, which mimics gear shifts. The car doesn’t actually have a transmission, not a traditional one, nor a continuously variable one.

Honda explains the system as: “Drive force from the traction motor is sent to the wheels directly through a fixed ratio, while engine power is blended seamlessly through a simple lock-up clutch. This simple form of drive force transfer offers smooth and predictable acceleration from the traction motor, matched with efficient low-rpm highway cruising when the gasoline engine is in operation.”

In essence, the gasoline engine creates the energy to charge the battery, which powers the electric motors that motivate the car.

Fuel economy is rated at 5.0/5.7/5.4 L/100 km city/highway/combined.

The car is also loaded with numerous tech, comfort and safety features.

“The return of the legendary Prelude brings feelings of nostalgia, fun and fond memories for generations of Canadians,” said Emile Korkor, assistant vice president, Honda Canada, in a news release. “Like its past iterations, this all-new Prelude is a vehicle that embodies the joy of driving. The combination of our award-winning hybrid-electric powerplant, chassis components shared with the vicious Civic Type R, and Honda’s new S+ Shift technology, solidifies it as world class grand touring machine.”
