The Jeep Grand Cherokee will squeeze out more power out of less engine starting in 2026.
The automaker announced it is introducing an all-new Hurricane 4 Turbo engine on the SUV, with the 2-litre four-cylinder engine producing 324 hp and 332 lb.-ft. of torque. The existing V6 will be maintained as the base engine.
The turbo four surpasses the power of the 3.6-litre V6 engine, which has 293 hp and 257 lb.-ft. of torque, but is not as powerful as the 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain that is available. The PHEV powertrain pairs a 2-litre turbo engine and electric propulsion for a total output of 375 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. The PHEV powertrain also has up to 42 kilometres of all-electric driving range.
The new Hurricane 4 Turbo is said to make the Grand Cherokee the first high-volume vehicle to use Turbulent Jet Ignition technology.
Jeep didn’t provide fuel economy numbers for the new powertrain, but said it offers a driving range of up to 814 kilometres on a single tank of fuel and a towing capacity of 2,812 kilograms (6,200 pounds).

New trim lineup
The SUV is available in standard Grand Cherokee form or the longer Grand Cherokee L, with the longer model offering three rows of seating.
The Grand Cherokee lineup includes three trims, Laredo, Limited and Summit, but that gets complicated with the availability of various packages on each trim.

For example, the Limited can be had with the Altitude or Reserve packages, with the Reserve adding a variety of luxury features such as Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, dual-pane sunroof and much more.
The top-of-the-line Summit trim adds features such as Oak and Liquid Chrome interior accents, Palermo leather seats, suede headliner, driver and passenger massaging seats, 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, and the Quadra-Trac II 4×4 drivetrain system paired with an air suspension.

More features
Jeep packed more tech and comfort features into the Grand Cherokee for 2026.
The base Laredo is powered by the V6 engine, but has new features added in 2026, including chrome accents, and new active and passive safety features such as active lane management, ParkSense rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross path detection, automatic emergency braking and more.
The SUV has a new 12.3-inch infotainment screen and an available front passenger 10.25-inch display.
There is also a new seven-slot grille, new headlight design, updated rear and lower fascia and new exterior trim finishes.

There are also new colours to choose from, those being Steel Blue, Copper Shino and Fathom Blue.
“The Jeep Grand Cherokee set the standard for SUVs and grand adventures more than 30 years ago, and it continues to drive them forward today,” said Bob Broderdorf, Jeep brand chief executive officer, in a news release. “The 2026 Grand Cherokee scales to every customer’s needs, offering a blend of surprising power from the all-new Hurricane turbo-four engine, true 4×4 capability, and a suite of amenities designed to tackle both every day and extraordinary adventures for customers and their crew.”

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be available sometime late this year. Canadian pricing will be announced at a future date.
