Drivers of electric Mercedes-Benz vehicles can now gain access to charging at Tesla Superchargers in Canada as well as in the United States.

Mercedes-Benz Canada announced the new access on Oct. 20.

The company’s EVs with a Combined Charging System Combo 1 (CCS1) charge port will be able to access the Superchargers’ North American Charging Standard (NACS) chargers via a NACS to CCS1 adapter.

Authorized adapters are available at Mercedes-Benz dealerships.

“Convenient access to a broad charging network is integral to a seamless EV ownership experience. Expanding the MB.CHARGE network with the integration of the Tesla Supercharger network represents another important step as we continue to build a strong foundation to bring additional, game-changing all-electric vehicles to the market,” said Andreas Tetzloff, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada, in a news release.

Mercedes-Benz Canada said MB.CHARGE Public is the company’s comprehensive approach to charging, and offers a seamless connection experience.

Other charger providers integrated into the Mercedes-Benz charging ecosystem include ChargePoint, FLO, BC Hydro, Circuit Electrique and more.

About adapters

The Mercedes-Benz-approved NACS to CCS1 faster-charging adapter retails at a price of $219.95.

The company said this is the only adapter tested and certified for safety and compatibility with all Mercedes-Benz batter-electric vehicles (BEV) and any NACS fast-charging station.

The adapters will work on any Mercedes-Benz BEVs with a CCS1 charge port.

Future NACS integration

Future Mercedes-Benz BEVs will have a native NACS port, starting with models that arrive in North America in late 2025.

This will give upcoming Mercedes EVs direct access to Tesla Superchargers and other NACS charging systems without the need for an adapter.
