Alfa Romeo has updated the Tonale for 2026, giving the compact SUV looks from the company’s “necessary beauty” design philosophy.
It’s not a new vehicle generation, but an update to the existing model.
The 2026 Tonale gets an updated design, as well as a new Sport Speciale special edition that’s intended to be bolder than the rest.
What’s changed
The Tonale gets a new front fascia with a concave scudetto grille that is inspired by the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale.
It gets more aggressive trilobe lower intakes.
The front overhang is now shorter and the front and rear tracks are wider for a more athletic stance, the automaker said.
There are also updated black-and-white Alfa Romeo badges.
Wheel designs get an update too. Among the wheel options are new 20-inch, three-hole wheels as seen in the photos.

Interior updates
The automaker said the interior materials, colours and finishes have been elevated.
There are now sporty red leather seats with red stitching available, a first for the Tonale.
All trims of the Tonale get contrast stitching on the dashboard, door panels and armrests.
Seating surfaces are now a premium leather with Alcantara trim. The eight-way power-adjustable front seats, which include four-way power lumber support, include heating and ventilation.
More exterior colours
Alfa Romeo is adding three new colours to the 2026 colour palette. Those are Rosso Brera, Verde Monza and Giallo Ocra,
These colours join a palette that includes Alfa Black, Milano White, Grigio Ascari, Verde Fangio and Misano Blue.
A contrasting black roof can be optioned with or without the optional power moonroof.

Sport Speciale
The new Sport Speciale special edition sits at the top of the Tonale lineup.
It features silver accents on the side skirts and rear bumper, gloss black Brembo brake calipers and it has an available contrasting black roof.
It rides on the new three-hole, 20-inch wheels, which are lighter than the previously available five-hole wheels.
The interior of the Sport Speciale gets black-and-pearl perforated Alcantara-trimmed seats with contrasting white stitching and a black Alcantara-wrapped dash face.
Powertrain and dynamics
The 2026 Tonale is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with 268 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque.
A nine-speed automatic transmission sends power to the Q4 all-wheel-drive system.
Drivers can select their drive mode to match their driving style via the Alfa DNA selector, and the SUV also has an available dual-mode suspension for improved dynamics.

Trims
For 2026, the Tonale is available in three trims, Sprint, Veloce and Sport Speciale.
Features in each trim include:
- Sprint – gloss-black body kit, 18-inch wheels, LED lighting, aluminum pedals and sills, and fabric seats with contrasting stitching and Biscione logo on the seat back, while options include a black roof and the Premium Package that adds perforated leather seating in black or red, ambient lighting, gloss black DLO, hands-free power liftgate and ventilated seats
