The Subaru Crosstrek is losing its base 2-litre engine for the 2026 model year with all models now being powered by either a 2.5-litre unit or a hybrid powertrain.
The price is also rising by $900 to a starting Canadian manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $30,595. Once various fees and levies are included, the starting purchase price comes to $33,442.
For 2026, most versions of the Crosstrek are powered by a 2.5-litre boxer engine with 180 hp and 178 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission sending power to the symmetrical full-time all-wheel-drive system.
The now-discontinued 2-litre engine had 152 hp.

New e-Boxer Hybrid
New for 2026 is the new top-of-the-line hybrid model, the e-Boxer Hybrid Limited, which is powered by a hybrid powertain that combines the 2.5-litre engine with an electric motor for a total system output of 194 hp.
The hybrid version is available in just one trim.
It has a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, which is exclusive to this trim, a surround-view monitor with 360-degree camera, an exclusive exterior colour called Citrus Yellow Pearl, unique 18-inch wheels and e-Boxer badging.
