The Kia Soul will soon disappear in the United States, with Kia America announcing the boxy hatchback is being discontinued after the 2025 model year.
Kia sold more than 1.5 million Souls in the U.S. since the model launched in 2009.
Here in Canada, the Soul is already not available.
Kia Canada confirmed to this blog the Soul had been discontinued here earlier this year and there is no available inventory left.
With a starting price of a little more than $25,000, the Soul was among the least-expensive cars available in Canada in 2025.
The Soul joined other cube-shaped cars in North America in the 2000s. Its competitors included the Scion xB and Nissan Cube, neither of which is available any more.
With the Soul, Kia set out to create a vehicle that combined the versatility of an SUV – a segment that was growing at the time – with the nimbleness of a car.
The automaker ran a creative advertising campaign in the Soul’s early years, including commercials featuring “Ham-stars” listening to Black Sheep, LMFAO and Motörhead.
