An era is coming to an end at Lexus.

The automaker will be ending production of its flagship sedan, the car that launched the brand 36 years ago with the memorable champagne glass commercial.

For the final model year, the Lexus LS will only available in a single, extremely exclusive trim, the 2026 LS 500 AWD Heritage Edition.

Only five of these cars will be sold in Canada.

“Limited to just five units in Canada, this serves as a tribute to a model that has defined luxury for over three decades – combining timeless design, innovative technology, and unparalleled craftsmanship into one exceptional automotive icon,” the automaker said in a news release. “This special edition is a statement to the LS’s remarkable journey, celebrating the craftsmanship, innovation, and passion that have defined it from Day 1.”

What’s unique about Heritage Edition?

The Heritage Edition car will be available in just one colour, Ninety Noir, which is a first for Lexus, and a Rioja Red interior, which is a first for the LS.

The car rides on 20-inch, split-20-spoke alloy wheels with a dark grey metallic finish. The wheels incorporate noise-reduction technology.

The interior gets an etched Lexus LS Heritage Edition emblem on the centre console, which features a silhouette of the car. This design element also appears on the headrests.

The premium wood trim gets a new special laser black pattern.

Each of the final five cars get a panorama glass roof.

Additionally, Lexus fitted each car with a panoramic view monitor for enhanced visibility and safety.

Other features include heated rear seats, a power lift-up buckle, and a Mark Levinson 23-speaker, 2,400-watt Reference Surround Sound system with QuantumLogic Immersion, as well as the Advanced Park feature.

The LS 500 is powered by a twin-turbo 3.4-litre V6 engine producing 416 hp and 442 lb.-ft. of torque mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard.

Lexus said the car will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.

The car will be available sometime in 2026. Pricing will be announced closer to when the car goes on sale. For updates, visit the Lexus Canada website.
