Porsche has embraced electrification, as evidenced by its range-topping 911 model.

The automaker has unveiled the newest 911 Turbo S, which arrives for the 2026 model year and features Porsche’s T-Hybrid powertrain.

In the Turbo S, the powertrain produces 701 hp (711 European horses) and 590 lb.-ft. of torque. The car it replaces had 640 hp.

Porsche said the latest Turbo S, which joins the 992.2 generation, is 0.2 seconds quicker from zero to 100 km/h than its predecessor, now accelerating in a reported time of 2.5 seconds.

As in years past, the car is available as a coupe or cabriolet.

Price

Starting Canadian pricing is as follows:

  • Coupe – $324,649 (MSRP of $289,300 plus fees, levies and estimated luxury tax)
  • Cabriolet – $341,369 (MSRP of $304,500 plus fees, levies and estimated luxury tax)

Powertrain

The Turbo S gets a twin-turbo 3.6-litre boxer engine.

The car’s T-Hybrid system is one that debuted in the Carrera GTS in 2024, but the Turbo S gets two electric exhaust gas turbochargers instead of one.

A lightweight high-voltage 1.9-kWh battery feeds an electric motor that is integrated into the eight-speed PDK transmission, which sends power to the all-wheel-drive system.

Increased weight

The new hybrid powertrain adds weight to the car, with the new Turbo S coming in 85-kilograms heavier than its predecessor.

Despite the weight gain, Porsche points out the car’s performance is improved in all the important areas, including increased agility and grip.

The Porsche team was able to drive a development mule during the final development drives on the Nürburgring Nordschleife and achieved a lap time of 7:03.92 minutes, which is around 14 seconds quicker than the outgoing Turbo S.

“You don’t feel the weight gain. On the contrary – the car is much more agile, has more grip and is significantly faster than its predecessor in all relevant sections of the track,” said Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, who was involved in the development and testing of the new 911 Turbo S and set the official lap time.

Porsche provided some performance numbers for the new model. They include:

  • Zero to 200 km/h – 8.4 seconds
  • Top speed – 322 m/h

Cabriolet

  • Zero to 100 km/h – 2.6 seconds

Aerodynamics

Porsche said the car’s aerodynamics optimize the car’s cooling and efficiency.

The coupe’s drag coefficient has been reduced by 10 per cent over the outgoing model, when all active aerodynamic elements are in their most efficient position.

The system can intelligently reduce lift or drag, depending on the driving situation.

Furthermore, the car’s wet braking has been improved thanks to front diffusers that close to shield the front brake discs from excessive water spray.

Chassis upgrades

The automaker fitted the car with an electro-hydraulically controlled Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (ehPDCC) as standard.

This system reduces the car’s tendency to roll when changing direction and increases agility when entering or exiting corners, Porsche said. The automaker added this system makes the car more predictable and easier to drive, despite its large power.

The system also has an available lift system for the front axle.

Distinguishing features

Porsche said the Turbo S introduces the company’s Turbo design strategy in the 911, which includes contrasting elements finished in Turbonite, an exclusive colour for Turbo models.

The car also has a wider body and track compared to Carrera models.

The car also has a titanium exhaust system with oval titanium tailpipes, some unique ventilation openings on the front fascia and other unique elements.

The coupe is a two-seater as standard but customers can configure the car as a 2+2 at no added cost, while the cabriolet features a 2+2 configuration.

Comfort

There are numerous comfort features, including the adaptive 18-way Sports Seats Plus, plus various other optional and standard elements.

“The 911 Turbo S is the most complete and versatile form of driving a Porsche 911. Whether in daily use, on long autobahn journeys or on the racetrack – we have made the new 911 Turbo S even more comfortable, more individual and significantly faster than its predecessor,” said Frank Moser, vice president of the 911 and 718 model line, in the release.
