Something wicked fast this way comes.
Porsche is planning to unveil a new vehicle model on Sunday, Sept. 7, and it’s likely to be a high-performance variant of the 911.
The automaker posted a teaser video on Instagram, with the caption: “Weissach is where legends are born … And another is soon to be unveiled.”
Weissach can refer to two things.
One, the automaker offers an optional Weissach Package on many of its vehicles. It’s a performance-oriented package that reduces a vehicle’s weight.
The other thing Weissach can refer to, which is probably the case for the upcoming unveiling, is the company’s development centre in Weissach, Germany.
I won’t bother speculating what the new vehicle will be, but Porsche has been steadily rolling out 911 variants on the new 992.2 platform and has yet to unveil several higher-performance models, including the Turbo and Turbo S models.
The folks at the Supercar Blog are convinced the car will be a Turbo S, and you can read their take on the upcoming unveiling here.
A Sept. 7 unveiling would happen just before the start of the Munich IAA Mobility show, which is open to the public Sept. 9 to 14, with a media day on Sept. 8.
The Instagram post from Porsche says we’ll just have to stay tuned and wait for the unveiling on Sept. 7 at 9 a.m. (Eastern time).
