Sure, the Toyota Prius has a bit of a reputation as a tree-hugging, slow-moving dishwasher on wheels.
But consider the modern Prius has a sloping roofline, sleek aerodynamics and an available plug-in hybrid powertrain with more horsepower than a V6-powered Ford Mustang from as recently as 2010 and you can make a strong case about the Toyota’s sporting intentions. And, you won’t have to give up your seat on the local eco-council if you’re seen driving one.
The designers at Toyota recognize the car’s sporty appearance and for 2026 have created a new trim that gives it an even edgier look.
The new Nightshade Edition is available only on the Prius Plug-in Hybrid, not the standard Prius with a self-charging hybrid powertrain.
The plug-in hybrid version has 220 hp and an electric-only driving range of up to 72 kilometres.

Nightshade Edition
The new Nightshade Edition builds on the car’s middle-of-the-pack XSE grade, and adds visual accents to up its curb appeal.
The car gets black badging and accents on the door sills, door handles and bumpers.
It also rides on 19-inch black-finished alloy wheels.
The Nightshade Edition is available in two colours, Wind Chill Pearl and Midnight Black Metallic (as seen in the photos).
