Following the announcements of Cadillac discontinuing its XT4 and XT6 sport utility vehicles, the automotive media began speculating at the demise of the XT5 next.
Not so, says Cadillac.
The automaker announced the midsize five-seater will continue on as a gasoline-powered SUV. Furthermore, the next-generation of the luxury SUV will launch for the 2027 model year.
“We’re excited to see the XT5 legacy continue with an all-new generation on the way. This reflects Cadillac’s commitment to putting customers first – offering both EV and gas-powered options so Canadians can choose the luxury that fits their lifestyle,” said Mike Speranzini, Cadillac Canada managing director, in a statement.
Cadillac has launched multiple electric SUVs in recent years, which replaced or are replacing the XT4 and XT6 in its lineup; however, Cadillac said the XT5 is an important part of its global portfolio.
“Cadillac continues to gain momentum in the Canadian luxury market, with five consecutive years of record sales and a 32 per cent increase in the first half of 2025 – reflecting a strong portfolio and growing customer confidence,” the automaker said.
“As Cadillac evolves, we will continue to make necessary adjustments to our portfolio to meet customer demand.”
The automaker said more details about the next-gen XT5 will be shared in the future.
