It appears Mercedes-AMG is doing what high-end sports car makers do best – squeezing out numerous versions of a single car to fit various budgets and sporting needs.

The high-performance division of Mercedes-Benz is hinting at a more track-focused version of its GT car.

The second-gen GT launched in 2023 and is only available as an AMG vehicle.

There are various versions of the second-gen car available, including the GT 43, GT 55, GT 63, and GT 63 S E Performance (the GT 55 and GT 63 are the only ones currently available in Canada), but Mercedes is not stopping with just those.

The automaker has released teaser images of the Concept AMG GT Track Sport.

While the concept car is not a production vehicle, it is said to provide a glimpse into the future of the GT sports car family.

“The uncompromising concept vehicle is designed for absolute driving dynamic peak performance to set new standards and record times,” Mercedes-Benz said in a news release.

The automaker said the concept car is being finalized at the AMG workshop in Affalterbach and then it will prove itself on test tracks.

“With the new concept vehicle, Mercedes-AMG demonstrates its great expertise as a sports car manufacturer and provides a preview of a possible expansion of the GT series with a V8 engine,” Mercedes-Benz said.
