This is the final year of the Acura TLX.
Production of the midsize sports sedan is ending this month, the automaker announced July 23.
The company said it has sold more than one million units of the TLX and its predecessor the TL in North America since the original launched in 1995. However, the sedan has seen a steady decline in buyers in recent years with fewer than 1,000 of these cars being sold in Canada in each of the past two years.
At the car’s sales peak, the company moved 7,100 TLs in 1999 in Canada.
“The TLX and its predecessor, the TL, served as a cornerstone of the Acura brand for much of the past 30 years – with well over one million units sold in North America. However, since the initial success of the model, sales have been in a gradual, but steady decline as consumers increasingly turn to crossover utility vehicles,” Acura Canada said in a news release.
Acura has one other four-door car in its Canadian lineup, the Integra, which is receiving some slight updates for 2026, otherwise, every other vehicle in the company’s lineup is an SUV or crossover.
In fact, Acura will be adding another crossover to its Canadian lineup, the all-electric RSX, which revives a name the company previously used for a sporty coupe.
Full vehicle details are available on the Acura Canada website.
Disappearing sedans
Automakers have been steadily removing sedans from their lineups in recent years as consumers increasingly turn to small SUVs, a trend that is not likely to stop anytime soon.
Other sedans that were discontinued in the past year or two in Canada include the Volvo S90, Subaru Legacy, Infiniti Q50, Chevrolet Malibu, and probably a few others I’m sure I’m forgetting.
We’ll also read about a few more discontinued sedans before this year is out, I’m sure.
