Aston Martin has launched what it calls the most performance-focused version of the Vantage model range.
The Vantage S is powered by a twin-turbo 4-litre V8 engine producing 670 hp and 590 lb.-ft. of torque.
The non-S version of the Vantage gets 656 hp and the same torque figure.
The automaker said the new Vantage S marks the revival of Aston Martin’s tradition of adding the “S” suffix to high-performance versions of its vehicles. This tradition began in 2004 when the automaker launched the Vanquish S.
“For many decades the illustrious Vantage nameplate has stood for the very best in performance, excitement and driving thrills. Those qualities were very much at the forefront when the new Vantage was launched to global acclaim last year. Exceeding those qualities was the challenge and motivation behind the new Vantage S,” said Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark in a news release.
“The result is a new benchmark in the front-engined ultra-luxury sports car sector; a car to excite Aston Martin’s passionate and discerning customers, and a vivid demonstration of the talent, scope and drive which exists within the marque today.”

More than extra power
The Vantage S gets more than just a power boost compared to its non-S sibling.
Aston Martin said the higher performance car gets new suspension hardware, powertrain mounts and control software to improve the car’s agility as well as increase the car’s feel, driver engagement and composure.
While the car allows for more hard core driving, Aston Martin said it doesn’t lose compliance or refinement.

Visual cues
The Vantage S also gets some design features to distinguish it from other Vantage models.
This includes new centrally mounted hood blades finished in 2×2 twill carbon fibre, “S” badging, a full width decklid spoiler, which increases downforce by up to 44 kilograms, an updated underbody that adds as much as 67 kilograms of downforce, bespoke 21-inch Y-spoke wheels finished in satin black with a red wheel graphic and other features.
The interior also gets new “S” badging, plus the car gets unique Alcantara and leather upholstery with 2×2 twill carbon fibre trim inlays.

Performance
Aston Martin said the Vantage S, with Launch Control, will sprint from zero to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, an improvement of 0.1 seconds over the Vantage. Zero to 100 km/h arrives in 3.4 seconds.
Zero to 200 km/h arrives in 10.1 seconds.
The car’s top speed is 202 mph (325 km/h), which is the same as a regular Vantage.
