Kia has announced the approximate arrival time of one of its low-cost electric vehicles in Canada.
Canada will be the only North American market to get the EV5.
The 2026 Kia EV5 is expected to be available here in the spring of 2026, Kia Canada announced.
“This all-new EV SUV will be one of three cost accessible EVs that arrive in 2026, accelerating the success already achieved with EV6 and EV9,” the company said in a news release.
The automaker expects the EV5 to accelerate EV adoption by breaking the affordability barrier.
On the design side, the EV5 looks much like the EV9, but in a smaller package, with seating for five instead of seven. Kia promises a spacious interior.
The EV5s for the Canadian market are made in South Korea.
While pricing and final vehicle specifications are yet to be announced, there are some features that are planned.
This includes choices of 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheels, and choices of eight exterior colours, including two shades that are new to Kia, Magma Red and Frost Blue.
The interior utilizes what Kia calls 10 environmentally mindful materials, plus owners will find nearly 30 inches of panoramic screen up front.
There’s also a mood lamp with adjustable interior lighting and plenty of storage space on the inside.
Battery and propulsion
Buyers will get a choice of a battery capacity of 60.3 kWh or 81.3 kWh on long-range models.
Buyers will also get a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
DC fast charging is available via a standard North American Charging Standard charge port.
