Volvo has a new all-time best-selling vehicle.

The automaker’s XC60 midsize SUV has surpassed the Volvo 240 for all-time sales.

Volvo announced it has sold more than 2.7 million XC60s since the model launched in 2008.

“Growing up in Sweden in the 1980s, the Volvo 240 was the iconic family car – you could spot one in almost every driveway,” said Susanne Hägglund, head of Global Offer at Volvo Cars, in a news release. “Today the XC60 has taken over that position in two ways. Not only as the family favourite, but also becoming our all-time top-seller, which in itself is the ultimate proof point of a successful car. And now, with the latest updates, it gets even better.”

XC60 was Volvo’s first global model

The XC60 was initially built exclusively in Europe but later became Volvo’s first global model and started production in China.

It was named World Car of the Year in 2018.

The XC60 was refreshed for 2026, featuring updated design, more comfort and updated tech features and a quicker infotainment system.

More information on the XC60 is available on the Volvo Car Canada website.
