Koenigsegg has launched a new track-focused hypercar named Sadair’s Spear.
It is an evolution of the company’s bonkers Jesko Absolut, but with more power, less weight, upgraded brakes and suspension, a minimalist track-focused interior and fine tuned aerodynamics.
Before we get to the performance specs, let’s take a look at where the car’s name gets its inspiration.

Where does name come from?
Company founder Christian von Koenigsegg named the Jesko car after his father on his father’s 80th birthday.
Jesko von Koenigsegg was a gentleman jockey with lifelong ties to Sweden’s equestrian community.
Jesko’s favourite race horse, the one he rode in his final race in 1976, was named Sadair’s Spear.
Now, let’s look at the car’s performance specs.

Powertrain
Sadair’s Spear is powered by Koenigsegg’s twin-turbo V8 engine mated to a flywheel-free light speed transmission (LST), which is capable to revving to 46,000 rpm/s.
Thanks to enhanced airflow and cooling and a new calibration of the engine, the engine’s power is 1,282 hp (1,300 European horses) on regular unleaded fuel and 1,602 hp (1,625 European horses) on eco-friendly E85 fuel. Those are increases of 20 hp and 25 hp compared to the Jesko Absolut’s output.

Weight loss
The new car loses about 35 kilograms of weight, surpassing the 1:1 weight:power ratio.
The automaker managed to drop some of the car’s weight by reducing interior sound insulation by 2.6 kilograms, another 1.3 kilograms with new carbon fibre techniques as well as various lightweight interior and mechanical components.

Minimalist interior
The automaker points out the interior of the car features a minimalist centre console and redesigned carbon fibre seats.
The seats come standard with three-point seatbelts but can be upgraded to a six-point racing harness in select markets.
Various comfort feature remain, including the steering-mounted SmartCluster display, SmartCentre command interface, USB connectivity, inductive phone charging, bird’s-eye parking assist and Koenigsegg’s Autoskin, which can operate doors automatically.

Aerodynamics
The team optimized airflow for improved downforce and cooling.
The active top-mounted double-blade rear wing is crafted for maximum cornering traction at track speeds, the automaker said, and works in harmony with refined underfloor strakes and wheel arch louvres.
A front-end aero package balances the rear downforce and improves cooling efficiency.
Rear hood scoops also boost engine performance at high speeds and an updated front hood vent with a Gurney flap allows for optimal cooling airflow, while providing downforce in critical areas, Koenigsegg said.

Already sold out
“Sadair’s Spear represents a natural progression for Koenigsegg – an impeccable balance of raw power, refined aerodynamics, and extraordinary road presence. This car is destined to set records. Achieving such track dominance in a fully road-legal vehicle is nothing short of remarkable,” Christian von Koenigsegg said in a news release.
The automaker will build 30 of these cars and they’re already sold out.
