Automobili Lamborghini is reminding potential customers, or creating envy among those who aren’t, that buyers can choose from 400 different colours to make their vehicles unique.
One of those colours has a particularly colourful history.
We’re talking about a shade of green called Verde Scandal, which was created in the late 1960s for a Lamborghini Miura customer.
In that time, the company already recognized the importance of customizing cars for customers, and these customizations were done in-house at the company’s Sant’Agata Bolognese facility.

In walks a woman and asks for a colour that Lamborghini had not developed yet.
She wanted a Miura in the colour of the dress she was wearing.
When the Lamborghini rep asked her for a sample so the company could work on it, she simply took off the dress and left it with the rep.
How could the company refuse her request?
So, the colour was created and the automaker called it Verde Scandal.

Recent use of Verde Scandal
The folks at Ducati, which is owned by the Volkswagen Group, same as Lamborghini, used the same shade of green when it launched the Ducati Panigale V4, a motorcycle with a design inspired by the Lamborghini Revuelto.
If you visit the Lamborghini website and try the configurator on one of its vehicles, yes, Verde Scandal is one of many available colours to choose from. What the configurator doesn’t tell you is how much this shade, or the entire car for that matter, will cost you.
Feel free to have fun with the configurator on the Lamborghini website.
