Porsche is going retro with a special-edition, limited-run version of its 911 sports car, but the modern amenities you’d expect remain – including a hybrid-electric powertrain.
The automaker launched the 911 Spirit 70. Only 1,500 units will be sold globally.
The car is based on the current 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, which features a hybrid powertrain pairing a 3.6-litre boxer engine and an electric motor integrated into the PDK transmission. Total system power is 532 hp and 450 lb.-ft. of torque.
If you’re in the market, the 2026 Porsche 911 Spirit 70 has a starting Canadian price of $289,009 (MSRP of $256,900 plus fees and levies).
The car, intended as a collector’s item, was created as part of Porsche’s Heritage Design strategy – the third such 911 model.
“The Heritage Design models occupy a special position within our product strategy from a design perspective,” said Michael Mauer, vice president style, Porsche, in a news release. “The limited-edition sports cars visualize what makes the Porsche brand so special. Every design of our vehicles ties in with our history – these vehicles go one step further. They show how we reinterpret historical design elements in a state-of-the-art sports car.”

Exterior design
Porsche designers and paint experts created the Olive Neo colour, a type of green for the 911 Spirit 70, with bronzite used as a contrast colour. The lower rear section, the front section and the Sport Classic wheels are painted in a grey-gold colour. The soft top and the windscreen frame are black.
The hood features three black silk gloss stripes, which is meant to be reminiscent of 1970s safety stickers.
The side decorative graphics and round start number are a nod to Porsche’s racing history.
The Porsche crest on the hood is almost identical to the one from 1963. There are also “Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur” badges on the front wings, a Porsche Heritage badge on the grille of the boot lid and other unique elements.

Interior design
Checkered flag-style Pasha fabric pattern in black and Olive Neo stands out on the inside. The rectangles have different sizes to create an appearance of movement.
The instrument cluster combines historic design and modern tech.
The 12.65-inch display has white pointers and scale lines in analogue format, with green digits that are a throwback to the Porsche 356.
There is also an available Sport Chrono stopwatch, which features similar white hands and green numerals.
