Subaru has launched its newest vehicle for the Canadian market, the all-electric Trailseeker SUV.
With 210 millimetres of ground clearance and symmetrical all-wheel drive, this EV, like its name suggests, is intended for outdoor adventures.
The Trailseeker is launching for the 2026 model year and is expected to be available at Canadian dealerships sometime next year. It was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show.
Propulsion system
The Trailseeker is motivated by two electric motors, one on each axle, producing a total of approximately 375 hp. It also has a towing capacity of up to 1,500 kilograms.
The SUV includes dual-function X-Mode with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud Modes, grip control and downhill assist control, intended to improve on-road and off-road performance.
Energy is supplied by a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery and driving range is estimated at 420 kilometres on a full charge.
It comes with an onboard battery preconditioning system, which helps the battery charge at fast speeds in warm or cold temperatures.
The Trailseeker gets a standard North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging port, which allows it to connect at Tesla Superchargers.

On-road and off-road stability
Subaru said the SUV gets a unique suspension and all-wheel-drive system that deliver straight-line stability as well as control on various surfaces.
With accelerator sensors front and rear, the Trailseeker can adapt to the dynamic load when speeding up, braking or turning by sending power to the correct wheels for better traction and stability.
Taller than Solterra
Compared to Subaru’s other EV, the Solterra, which is being updated for 2026, the Trailseeker is 150 mm longer, 25 mm taller with has more rear cargo space.
The Trailseeker also includes standard raised roof rails.
The Trailseeker and the new Solterra get a new EV lighting signagure with a six-star illuminated logo, redesigned headlamps, a new front bumper design and newly designed 18- and 20-inch wheels.
The rear end features three-dimensional Subaru lettering.

Interior
The Trailseeker gets a 14-inch touchscreen, which is the largest available in any Subaru. The infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
There are metallic finishes on the dash, creating a horizontal theme.
The centre console is wide, offering a space for devices and storage.
There’s a pair of 15W smartphone wireless chargers up front, while rear-seat occupants get access to USB-C fast-chargers.
Standard driver assistance systems on all grades include EyeSight driver-assistance technologies, including pre-collision braking, front cross traffic alert, blind-spot monitors, lane departure alert, a panoramic view monitor, emergency stop assist, traffic jam assist, lane change assist, advanced adaptive cruise control and more.
