2026 Toyota GR86 Yuzu Edition pops with colour

This special edition coupe was created to celebrate the GR86’s predecessor, the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0.

Toyota hasn’t forgotten the Scion FR-S that came before the GR86.

Now, in celebration of the original, Toyota has announced a special limited-edition version of the GR86.

The 2026 GR86 Yuzu Edition is expected to be available at Canadian dealerships in the fall of 2025. Only 30 of these will be sold in Canada.

Pricing hasn’t been announced yet.

What is the Yuzu Edition?

Each year, Toyota releases a limited number of special edition versions of the GR86. This practice began with the FR-S, when the automaker launched the first special edition called Release Series 1.0 in 2014. That car wore the exclusive Yuzu yellow paint. Yuzu is Japanese for citrus.

Fast forward to 2026 and we get the bright Yuzu yellow colour back along with other goodies, but just on the 30 available cars in Canada.

The car builds on the GR86 Premium trim and adds a host of other goodies, including the GR86’s Performance Package.

Yuzu Edition cars ride on 18-inch matte black wheels and get black accents throughout the car.

The interior is black with yellow accents. The sports seats are trimmed in Ultrasuede with yellow perforation, and yellow stitching can be found on the steering wheel, parking brake handle and door trim.

The car comes with Brembo brakes and SACHS dampers for improved stopping power and increased stability.

The SACHS dampers are filled with high-pressure nitrogen and oil and are designed to absorb vibrations across a wide range of speeds and maximize ground contact. The ride is firm and stable while balancing road comfort, Toyota said. The automaker said the car’s playfulness is preserved.

The red-painted Brembo brakes feature four pistons up front and two pistons in the rear.

The Canadian versions of the GR86 Yuzu cars also include a cat-back exhaust with GR logos on the silver-coloured tips and a body kit.

GR86 powertrain

The GR86 is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 228 hp and 184 lb.-ft. of torque and power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed electronically controlled automatic.

Zero to 100 km/h is said to arrive in 6.3 seconds with the manual and 6.9 seconds with the automatic.

The car also features a Torsen limited-slip differential for improved traction while cornering.

Drivers can also turn off the GR86’s vehicle stability control by selecting Track mode with the push of a button.

The 2026 GR86 will be available in three trims in Canada. These include the base model, the Premium model and the Yuzu model.
