
The newest versions of Volkswagen’s Golf R and Golf GTI have arrived in Canada and potential buyers can now configure their rides on the automaker’s Canadian website.
In Canada, we only get the sporty R and GTI versions of the Golf compact hatchback car, and both are available in two trim levels.
Here are the starting Canadian prices for the 2025 Golf GTI and Golf R:
- GTI – $39,181 (MSRP of $36,495 plus fees and levies)
- GTI Autobahn – $43,181 (MSRP of $40,495)
- R 4MOTION – $53,681 (MSRP of $50,995)
- R Black Edition 4MOTION – $56,281 (MSRP of $53,595)
Golf GTI
The 2025 Golf GTI features a turbocharged four cylinder engine producing 241 hp and 273 lb.-ft. of torque mated to a seven-speed direct-shift gearbox (DSG) automatic transmission sending power to the front wheels.
The car comes standard with 18-inch wheels, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, front and rear park distance control, keyless access with push-start button and proximity unlocking, and more.
The Autobahn model adds 19-inch wheels, dynamic chassis control adaptive damping with driving profile selection, Rail 2 Rail power sunroof, Harman Kardon premium audio system and more.

Golf R
The 2025 Golf R features a turbocharged four cylinder engine producing 328 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque mated to the seven-speed DSG automatic transmission sending power to the 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system with rear axle torque vectoring differential.
The car comes standard with many of the same features as the GTI Autobahn model, including 19-inch wheels, dynamic chassis control, Harman Kardon audio system and more.
The Black Edition gets additional styling elements and decorative carbon-fibre inserts.
A manual transmission is not available on either car.
