Mitsubishi has updated – or it could be said upgraded – the gas-powered Outlander for the 2025 model year with a suite of new refinement features.
The plug-in hybrid version of the same compact three-row SUV will have to wait on the updates.
The updates are part of a mid-cycle refresh, so from the outside the Outlander remains the same Outlander, but gains a new level of sophistication.
The Outlander is also the cheapest available three-row SUV in Canada.
Let’s explore what’s new.

Interior
There’s a new Yamaha sound system, the first Yamaha sound system developed for a vehicle in the North American market.
New sound insulation materials reduce road noise by 0.5 dB and almost 6 dB in overall sound isolation compared to the 2025 Outlander, Mitsubishi said.
The use of steel for the hood and front fenders improves noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).
A redesigned centre console has a more functional area for wireless phone charging, plus there’s a larger armrest with more storage and revised transmission controls and drive mode selector as well as redesigned cup holders.
The seats get a more premium material, Mitsubishi said, and revised stitch patterns. Seats are now available in an all-new semi-aniline leather interior in Brick Brown or a new light grey synthetic interior with suede-like inserts. Ventilated seats are available for the first time as well.

Exterior
The Outlander gains new 18- and 20-inch alloy wheel designs.
The front grille and bumper gets revised, plus the SUV gains full-LED, smoked-finish tail lights and a new tri-coat paint shade. The new Moonstone Grey Metallic paint features three separate outer layers of colour.
Mitsubishi points out the new grille is smoother and more integrated for a clamshell-style hood. There’s also an available “Outlander” hood script.
Refinement
Mitsubishi said the 2025 Outlander gets a more precise power steering system and recalibrated springs, shock absorbers and stabilizer bars for a better ride and improved handling.
The starting price is up by $1,000 over the 2024 model.
The starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price in 2025 is $35,598, which doesn’t include fees, levies or tax. The top-of-the-line GT Premium S-AWC model has a starting MSRP of $47,498. There are six trims to choose from.
All models get what Mitsubishi calls All-Wheel Control, seating up to seven people, full LED lighting outside, a 12.3-inch navigation screen Yamaha sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, multi-zone automatic climate control, and a suite of advanced safety features.
The Outlander is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 181 hp mated to constant velocity transmission.
The 2025 Outlander goes on sale in Canada on March 3.
