Storied automotive brand Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is driving toward the electric future with class and big power.

The automaker launched the new Black Badge Spectre, its most powerful car yet, which also happens to be an electric vehicle.

The car’s electric propulsion system has 659 hp and 793 lb.-ft. of torque.

Driving range, by European test standards, is between 493 and 530 kilometres.

The car is a Black Badge version of the Spectre coupe and gets some bold exterior accents over the regular Spectre and increased power (up from 584 hp). Rolls-Royce also said the new car has innovative opportunities for its bespoke program.

The car’s increased power becomes available in Infinity Mode, which is summoned up by pressing the Infinity button on the steering wheel. This mode results in more direct throttle response and will also make the dials more vibrant to match the car’s character.

Secondly, the car features Spirited Mode, which produces a burst of instantaneous acceleration. Spirited Mode can be engaged by the driver when the car is stationary by fully depressing both the gas and brake pedals at the same time. This will result in a haptic and visual response indicating the car is ready for takeoff. This mode temporarily amplifies the torque to its maximum.

Zero to 60 mph is said to arrive in 4.1 seconds.

The Black Badge Spectre receives other adjustments over the regular Spectre, including enhanced steering input feedback, reduced body-roll during cornering, and enhanced dampers for increased body control to reduce squatting during acceleration or deceleration.

The car comes with new 23-inch five-spoke forged aluminum wheels, which are available in part-polished or all-black finishes.

The car in the photos has a new paint finished called Vapour Violet, said to be inspired by the neon ambience of the ’80s and ’90s club culture, but Rolls-Royce maintains a colour palette of 44,000 colours. Clients can also develop a bespoke hue in collaboration with Rolls-Royce Bespoke designers.
