Mercedes-Benz Canada will be appearing at the Canadian International AutoShow for the first time in five years.

Any Mercedes-Benz appearance at the Toronto auto show between 2020 and 2025 would have been through a showcase by a network of dealers, rather than through the automaker itself.

“We are excited to welcome back fan-favourite Mercedes-Benz to the show after five years,” said auto show general manager Jason Campbell in a news release. “Auto show attendees will be among some of the first to see the G 580 with EQ Technology, offering a unique firsthand experience with this groundbreaking vehicle.”

The G 580 is an all-electric version of the automaker’s G-Class (also known as G-Wagen) off-road SUV.

The G 580 is capable of climbing 45-degree slopes on suitable surfaces. Auto show attendees will be able to see this off-roader atop an 11.5-foot-high mountain-scape at its display on the Level 300 of the North Building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

The electric G-Wagen is not the only ride that will be showcased at the auto show.

Mercedes vehicles that will be displayed include:

  • CLE 300 4MATIC Cabriolet
  • GLA 250 4MATIC SUV
  • GLC 350e 4MATIC SUV
  • GLE 450e 4MATIC SUV
  • EQB 300 4MATIC SUV
  • EQE 500 4MATIC SUV
  • G 580 with EQ Technology
  • Mercedes-AMG SL Roadster
  • Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ Coupe
  • Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC+ Sedan
  • Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 4MATIC SUV

The Mercedes-Maybach area will also include the Welcome to Beyond interactive experience.

The indoor EV test track in the Level 800 area of the South Building will also feature the EQE 500.

The auto show is happening Feb. 14 to 23 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. More information is available at autoshow.ca.
