Mazda is celebrating 35 years of the Miata, though the little sports car is no longer called that.

The automaker launched the 2025 Mazda MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition. Prospective buyers should note that only 230 models will be sold in Canada.

The Canadian manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the car is $43,700, which doesn’t include fees, levies or taxes.

So what is the 35th Anniversary Edition?

The car is an MX-5 like any other, but with some exclusive features. It is available only with a six-speed manual transmission and a soft top.

This 35th Anniversary model is based on the GT trim, so it includes heated seats, a Bose audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Alexa Built-in and a navigation system with an 8.8-inch screen.

Sports touches include an asymmetric limited-slip differential, shock tower bracing and sport-tuned Bilstein dampers.

Then, to separate the anniversary model from the regular GT trim, the car gets an exclusive exterior colour, called Artisan Red Metallic, a tan interior and a beige soft top.

The Artisan Red Metallic is a dark hue red and is Mazda’s fourth colour in its bespoke Takuminuri paint process, which includes a three-layer finish.

Other exterior elements include an optional colour-matched rear spoiler and serialized badging on the front fender. The car rides on bright 17-inch wheels.

On the inside, there’s matching tan carpeting, floor mats and tan Nappa leather seating. The head rests are embossed with the 35th Anniversary logo.

The trim around the AC vents and upper door panel match the exterior colour.
