Aston Martin has taken the top off its new Vantage coupe to create a thing of open-top beauty.

The automaker launched the new Vantage Roadster and deliveries of the 2026 model year car are expected to start in the second quarter of 2025.

The coupe, on which it is based, launched in 2024.

“This new Vantage Roadster is a sculptural masterpiece,” said Marek Reichman, Aston Martin chief creative officer, in a news release. “The resonant roar of its engine brings its simple yet refined surface design to life, creating a connection that’s impossible to ignore. Its form exudes beauty, its athletic stance conveys predatory intent, and its sound delivers a visceral, sensory experience. Created as both art and performance, the engine’s sound amplifies this balance, turning the auditory experience into an essential part of the journey. With the roof down, the soundscape becomes as dynamic as the design, blending simplicity, power, and a visceral connection that transcends driving into an unmatched sensory experience.”

The convertible is powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 656 hp and 590 lb.-ft. of torque sending power to the rear wheels.

The top speed and acceleration are the same as in the coupe, with a top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h), and a sprint from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. (3.6 seconds to 100 km/h).

The convertible features active vehicle dynamics, an electronic rear differential (E-diff) and Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers with bespoke tuning.

Aston Martin said the structure and suspension were modified from the coupe because of the car’s rearward shift in weight distribution. The car weighs 60 kilograms more than the coupe.

The top fully opens and closes in 6.8 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph).

Aston Martin said the convertible will deliver all the performance, dynamic sensations and visual excitement of the coupe, but also offer open-air motoring.

“The technical and dynamic capability of new Vantage delivered outstanding performance; far beyond any other preceding Vantage and it is now seen as a true class leading sports car. Vantage Roadster was no different feat in that it is a fully reinvented experience, with all the benefits of the coupe and no compromise to refinement or performance through meticulous work by our engineering and dynamics teams. Vantage Roadster delivers a world-class roof-down driving experience like no other,” said company CEO Adrian Hallmark in the release.
