No one will be surprised to learn that the Toyota Grand Highlander is more expensive than the Highlander.
What might surprise people is how small the price difference actually is.
The price gap between the Canadian starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of each vehicle’s base model is $650 in 2025. In 2024, the difference was $3,940.
I’ll explain how the gulf shrunk by so much.
Toyota Canada increased the Highlander’s price across the trim lines from 2024 to 2025 with the price change varying depending on the trim selected, increasing by approximately $700 to $1,000. The Highlander also lost its previous base model, the LE, which was about $3,000 cheaper than the next model up. That next model up, the XLE, therefore became the base model in 2025 when the LE was dropped.
In 2025, the Highlander XLE has a starting MSRP of $50,210, or approximately $53,780 with fees and levies.
The Grand Highlander also increased in price slightly, but its base model, the XLE, remains available. Prices increased by about $400 across the model range.
The 2025 Grand Highlander XLE has a starting MSRP of $50,860, or approximately $54,495 after fees and levies are included.
Keep in mind the Grand Highlander tops out at a higher price, with its most expensive model having a starting price of $69,430 (MSRP of $65,755) compared to the Highlander’s most expensive model having a starting price of $64,231 (MSRP of $60,661).
