Hyundai Canada recorded its best sales year in 2024.
This included a record year for both its Hyundai mainstream brand and Genesis luxury brand.
In total, the company sold 138,755 vehicles in 2024. This included 131,715 Hyundai vehicles sold, an increase of 13.9 per cent over 2024, and 7,040 Genesis vehicles sold, an increase of 6.4 per cent over 2023.
“Despite several market challenges throughout the 2024, Hyundai Canada prevailed with its best year in our 41-year history. The success we achieved reflects open communication between dealers, employees and affiliates to ensure we adapt to the Canadian market and the needs of our customers,” said Don Romano, president and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada., in a news release.
The top-selling Hyundai models include the Kona, which had 30,020 sales, Tucson, with 29,837 vehicles sold, and Elantra, which saw 20,427 vehicles moved.
Hyundai sold a total of 45,159 electrified vehicles, a year-over-year increase of 35.1 per cent, with the Ioniq 5 leading the way with 13,484 units sold. Hyundai and Genesis combined sold 45,712 electrified vehicles.
“Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited to welcome the Ioniq 9, three-row EV to dealerships, while continuing to offer Canadians our diverse portfolio, including our award-winning SUV lineup which, depending on the nameplate, provides customers with the choice of EV, PHEV, HEV or ICE powertrains,” said Romano in the release.
The best-seller on the Genesis side was the GV70 SUV, which had 4,048 vehicles sales in 2024, an increase of 30.1 per cent over 2023.
“We’re proud of the 2024 sales results we achieved with our 31 distributors in Canada because it’s proof positive that our collective, and top priority of centring entirely on the guest experience is effective. This goes beyond the normal service touches for a luxury automaker to offer and includes elements such as one transparent online price, at-home test drives; and the five-year, worry-free Genesis ownership experience featuring complimentary scheduled maintenance and roadside assistance, as well as at-home valet and courtesy vehicle service,” said Eric Marshall, managing director of Genesis Motors Canada, in the release.
Hyundai Auto Canada was established in 1983 and its headquarters is in Markham, Ont. The company has more than 250 dealerships across the country.
