Thanks to customer demand for the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 in the Jeep Wrangler, the automaker is expanding the engine’s availability in 2025.

Back in September, Jeep announced the V6 would only be available with a six-speed manual transmission and those who wanted an automatic would have to choose the 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor.

On Dec. 18, Jeep announced the automatic will be available on the V6 as well, as a $3,995 option.

The optional Torque Flite eight-speed automatic will be available on four-door models of the 2025 Jeep Wrangler.

“In response to enthusiastic requests, we’re reintroducing the eight-speed automatic transmission for V6 Wrangler models, underscoring our commitment to freedom of choice, performance and versatility for every adventure,” said Bob Broderdorf, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America, in a news release. “We deeply value our community’s passion and input.”

Four-door Wrangler models come standard with the Pentastar V6 and a six-speed manual transmission. The motor produces 285 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque.

The 2-litre inline-four engine produces 270 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque and it’s exclusively offered with the eight-speed automatic transmission.

Customers can also opt for the Wrangler 4xe, which features a plug-in hybrid powertrain utilizing a 2-litre gas engine and two electric motors, a high-voltage battery pack and an eight-speed automatic transmission. These models have a fuel economy rating of 4.8Le/100 km and up to 35 kilometres of all-electric driving range.

The V6 models with the automatic transmission can be ordered in Canada now.
