
The Nissan Versa, which was the second cheapest car in 2024, has become the least expensive new car in Canada in 2025 – that’s despite a price increase of a few hundred bucks.
Nissan’s small car has gained the affordability title when Mitsubishi axed the Mirage.
The 2025 Versa has a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $20,798, which after fees and levies are included comes out to $23,406.
The 2024 model had a starting MSRP of $20,298, so the price jumped $500.
The Versa is powered by a four-cylinder engine with 122 hp and 114 lb.-ft. of torque, which is mated to an Xtronic transmission. Fuel efficiency is rated at 7.5 L/100km city, 5.9 L/100km highway and 6.8 L/100km.
Despite the low price, the car comes with a host of safety and comfort features.
Standard on all grades are automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear automatic braking and high beam assist. Available safety technologies include blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert. The SR model adds Intelligent Cruise Control and the SV and SR models include Intelligent Driver Alertness
The trunk offers 425 litres of trunk space and 60/40-split rear folding seats.
The starting price for each grade is as follows:
- S – $23,406 (MSRP of $20,798)
- SV – $25,156 (MSRP of $22,548)
- SR – $26,556 (MSRP of $23,948)
