The Toyota Corolla Cross SUV is gaining the Mazda-developed Soul Red Crystal colour for the 2025 model year, Toyota Canada announced.
Remember that these two companies share occasionally and there are Mazda vehicles out there with Toyota’s hybrid powertrains.
The Soul Red Crystal is a multi-shade colour that utilizes a four-coat process that includes reflective flakes, a tinted clear coat and a top clear coat, according to Mazda.
Toyota says the new vibrant colour adds more flair to its compact SUV. The Corolla Cross is the only Toyota vehicle to use the colour, and it’s available only on certain trims.
It’s available on the LE, XLE, Hybrid SE and XSE grades, and can be selected at a price of $255, or it can be paired with a black roof at a price of $795.
“The Corolla Cross combines style and substance to offer Canadians a refreshing choice in the popular subcompact SUV segment,” said Cyril Dimitris, vice president, Toyota Canada Inc., in a news release. “By any measure – from capability and driving fun, to space and versatility, to safety and features – Corolla Cross punches above its weight in a way that makes it a perfect partner for life’s journey.”

The Corolla Cross is available in eight grades total, including six gasoline-only models and two hybrid models.
The ICE version has a 2-litre four-cylinder engine with start-stop technology producing 169 hp. It is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with sequential shift mode. Front-wheel-drive models have a city-highway combined fuel efficiency rating of 7.3L/100 km while all-wheel-drive models have a rating of 7.8L/100 km.
The hybrid models feature Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid powertrain that pairs a 2-litre four-cylinder engine with motor-generators and an electronically controlled CVT with paddle shifters and all-wheel drive. It produces a total of 196 hp and has a fuel efficiency rating of 5.6L/100 km.
The hybrid models now get Toyota’s Beyond Zero badge on the trunk.
All trims get Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which features a suite of safety technologies, and Toyota Multimedia, which integrates wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The multimedia system gets Toyota’s newest interface, which the automaker says improves human-vehicle interaction through sight, touch and voice.
Toyota also points out the small SUV is urban friendly with a 5.2-metre turn radius.
