Nissan Ariya owners will be able to access Tesla Supercharger charging stations beginning Dec. 10.
However, current owners of these electric vehicles will need an adapter.
The adapter is needed because current Nissan EVs use a Combined Charging System (CCS) fast-charger port, whereas Tesla Superchargers use the North American Charging Standard style of port.
Nissan EV owners will need a Nissan-provided NACS adapter kit to access these charging stations.
The Nissan NACS adapters are available at a price of $309.99. The adapters are available now through a Nissan dealer or through the Nissan Canada website.
Owners of future Nissan EVs won’t need the adapter, because starting in 2025, the automaker will begin fitting its EVs for the Canadian and U.S. Markets with NACS ports.
The Tesla Superchargers are being added to the Nissan Energy Charge Network, starting Dec. 10. The NECS allows drivers to use their MyNissan app to find charging stations, check charger availability and pay for charging.
In Canada, the NECS also includes access to ChargeHub, the Shell Recharge branded network, FLO, Chargepoint, Circuit Electrique, BC Hydro, and the IVY branded network. In the U.S., the NECS also includes access to Electrify America, the Shell Recharge branded network, ChargePoint and EVgo networks.
The Nissan Energy Charge Network is not currently available to Nissan Leaf owners.
