Bentley Motors is developing what it calls the world’s first true “luxury urban” SUV, which is expected to be revealed in 2026.

It is part of the automaker’s Beyond100+ business strategy, previously called Beyond100.

The new model is being designed, developed and produced at Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe, England.

It will be the first of a series of new plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV) or battery-electric vehicles (BEV) to be launched every year over the next decade.

Bentley plans to build only fully electric vehicles from 2035 and its Beyond100+ strategy aims to extend the lifecycle of its PHEV models beyond 2030, to 2035.

Bentley’s Continental GT coupe and convertible and Flying Spur models are now exclusively available as plug-in hybrids, and the company’s W12 engine has been discontinued.

“Four years almost to the day that Bentley initially outlined its Beyond100 strategy, we adapt to today’s economic, market and legislative environment to initiate a major transformative phase for tomorrow. Beyond100+ becomes our guiding light as we extend our ambitions beyond 2030, while maintaining our aim of a decarbonized future, including offering only fully electric cars from 2035, and reinforcing our credentials as the British creator of extraordinary cars for over a century and beyond,” said Frank-Steffen Walliser, chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors, in a news release.

Bentley has turned its historic Crewe location into a certified carbon-neutral facility, and is now focused on building a “Dream Factory” to develop electric vehicles.

The plan is to turn the 85-year-old facility into a state-of-the-art design centre, paint shop and BEV assembly line.
