Ford is simplifying and lowering the pricing of its BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system for drivers in Canada.
BlueCruise is available on certain Ford and Lincoln models and in various iterations. The new pricing has been announced for Ford vehicles only.
In Canada, Ford vehicles available with BlueCruise include the Explorer, Expedition, F-150, F-150 Lightning, and Mustang Mach-E. The latest version, BlueCruise 1.5, is launching on the 2025 Mustang Mach-E.
The new pricing, as of Nov. 1, 2024, for owners of BlueCruise-equipped Ford vehicles is $650 per year, down from $900 annually, or $64.99 per month. Owners with existing plans will see their prices drop on their next payment.
Additionally, starting with the 2025 model year, buyers of the Mustang Mach-E and Expedition will have the option of making a one-time purchase at the time of vehicle order at a price of $3,295, which would make the service continue for the life of the vehicle. Ford said it will announce other vehicles lines eligible for the one-time purchase option. Until now, Canadians didn’t have a one-time purchase option. The longest available plan was a three-year option at a price of $2,750.
Furthermore, certain 2025 model year vehicles will include a one-year plan as standard. BlueCruise-equipped vehicles that don’t include the one-year plan at purchase can have it added for a price of $650.
Ford is also continuing to offer a 90-day complimentary trial to customers who choose not to subscribe to the service, unless the vehicle includes the standard one-year plan.
Ford is also allowing customers to activate the service for a single month at a time. That means you can pay for one month, such as when you are planning some long-distance travel, and then not active it again until you need it again.
