In a bit of good news for new vehicle shoppers on a budget, Nissan Canada has announced that the outgoing Kicks is not going out after all, not yet anyway.

The first generation Kicks compact crossover will continue to be offered as a 2025 model, renamed Kicks Play, and will be available alongside the all-new Kicks.

The second-gen Kicks has a Canadian starting price that’s almost $5,000 more than the older one. Nissan Canada said the Kicks Play would offer customers a broader range of options and an additional entry in the CUV market. It did not specify if the model would continue past 2025.

Two trims will be available of the 2025 Kicks Play.

Trims and MSRP:

  • Kicks Play S FWD – $22,598
  • Kicks Play SV FWD – $25,198

The MSRP does not include fees, levies or taxes.

Shoppers will notice the top-of-the-line SR model has been dropped.

The S model includes Nissan Safety Shield 360, cruise control, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, three USB charging ports, Easy-Fill Tire Alert, 16-inch wheels and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat.

The SV adds 17-inch alloy wheels, silver-painted roof rails, electric parking brake, rear disc brakes, intelligent cruise control, Nissan Intelligent Key, a seven-inch advanced drive-assist display, an eight-inch touchscreen, a front USB-C port, remote engine start, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, automatic climate control and rear door alert.

For those cross-shopping against the new Kicks, the 2025 model has a Canadian starting MSRP of $27,199.
