The Ford Mustang Mach-E is gaining a number of features for the 2025 model year, among those is the latest version of Ford’s hands-free highway driving system.

BlueCruise 1.5 is launching on the Mach-E, but the car is getting other nifty items as well. More on BlueCruise further down.

The electric SUV is also getting a heat pump, a new Sport Appearance Package, new colours and wheels.

“We’ve built strong relationships with our customers over the last four years, and continue to make upgrades based on their feedback,” said Donna Dickson, Mustang Mach-E chief engineer, in a news release. “We’re dedicated to giving them the best version of Mustang Mach-E possible, and that means giving them features they have been asking for, like the new heat pump and more interior space up front.”

New features

The new Sport Appearance Package is available on Premium models. It gives the Premium some of the visuals of the GT model, but without the expense of the GT model.

This includes a front fascia and grille shield as well as red front Brembo brake calipers and 19-inch monochromatic high-gloss black-painted wheels and black-painted door cladding and wheel lips.

On the inside, the car gets red accent stitching and sport pedals.

Additionally, Premium models now have standard ventilated front seats and a column-mounted shifter.

The heat pump is now standard on the Mustang Mach-E, which helps to optimize energy consumption, particularly in cold weather.

The 2025 model also gets three new optional colours, which include Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Velocity Blue Metallic and Desert Sand, as well as three new wheel designs.

BlueCruise 1.5

BlueCruise is an available, subscription-based connected service.

BlueCruise 1.5 builds on BlueCruise 1.4 and adds the automatic lane change feature. The system is able to change lanes without needing driver input.

Ford says the system will initiate the lane change if the vehicle ahead is slower than the Ford’s set speed or if a vehicle is following too closely in the passing lane.

This allows the car to remain in hands-free mode longer. Ford says this new feature automates up to 45 per cent of driver-initiated lane changes on a typical drive.

Ford’s Connectivity Package also gets some improvements, including 5G Wi-Fi that can be used on up to 10 personal devices and up to 50 feet from the vehicle, improved maps with features such as EV Trip Planner, Predictive Destinations and Route Guidance, and access to a variety of apps on the vehicle screen.

The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E is expected to go on sale in early 2025.
