Honda’s charitable arm in Canada is supporting a national road safety education and awareness initiative.

Honda Canada Foundation is donating $200,000 to Parachute Canada, a national charity dedicated to reducing preventable injuries. The funding will support Parachute’s Vision Zero Youth Engagement Plan.

Specifically, the money will support such Parachute efforts as its Canadian youth road safety council, youth road safety ambassador program, parent and caregiver engagement and Canadian Youth Road Safety Week.

“We welcome and celebrate our new partner in youth road safety, the Honda Canada Foundation,” said Parachute Canada president and CEO Pamela Fuselli in a news release. “Empowering youth ages 15 to 24 to become more involved in road safety issues and to create and support road systems in our communities that are safe and equitable are our goals, and the generous support of the Honda Canada Foundation allows us to move closer to those goals.”

“Road safety is important whether you are a pedestrian, driver or cyclist, and affects all communities be it a big city or small town. Honda Canada Foundation is supporting Parachute to empower youth to contribute to the safety of our roads and the society we live in,” said Ryan Kelly, chair of the Honda Canada Foundation, in the release. “Our partnership with Parachute Canada and support for Canadian Youth Road Safety Week will help further our shared visions of safer roads and a collision-free society. Honda Canada Foundation was created to make the lives of Canadians better and we believe a focus on road safety will help to do that for everyone.”
