This Chevy EV has more horsepower than Corvette Stingray and costs thousands less

The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS, which pumps out 595 hp in WOW mode, has a Canadian MSRP of $69,999.

Chevrolet Canada has announced pricing for its 2025 Blazer EV model range, and low in the information sheet are the details for the range-topping SS model, which is new for the coming year.

On paper, this is a beast of a car.

The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS, which comes with all-wheel drive, has what’s called a Wide Open Watts feature, which unleashes the EV’s maximum power of 595 hp and 645 lb.-ft. of torque. The initial announcement called for 557 hp, so the model has even more oomph than the automaker initially gave it credit for.

That’s a lot of muscle on tap.

The starting Canadian price for the SS is $72,599, which includes a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $69,999 plus fees and levies.

If we were to compare that with Chevrolet’s Corvette sports car, that’s a real bargain when you consider that the entry-level Corvette Stingray has 495 hp and a 2024 starting price of $90,833 (MSRP of $87,699 plus fees and levies.)

I know what you’ll say: They’re not the same thing and you’re comparing apples to oranges, one is a mid-engine track beast and the other is an SUV with a heavy battery. This is true, and yet it’s fun to imagine two drivers pulling up beside each other in these two vehicles at a red light and seeing what happens next.

Strictly speaking, the Corvette, even with 100 hp less, is quicker off the line, with a reported zero to 60 mph sprint of 2.9 seconds, compared to the Blazer EV SS’s 3.4 seconds. But, when you consider the Blazer has three additional seats and a large trunk, that half-second off isn’t bad.

Anyway, it’s not my job to sell you on the Blazer, so I’ll go on with the rest of the details for the model range.

Another interesting piece of information is that the 2025 Blazer EV is available in front-wheel, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive variants.
