Nissan is making it easier for owners of its electric vehicles to find charging stations and pay for charges without having to sign up for countless user accounts.
The newly launched Nissan Energy Charge Network will allow Nissan EV owners to use the MyNissan app to find charging stations, see real-time charger availability and pay for charging.
The service is available to owners of Nissan Ariya vehicles and future Nissan EVs. It is not currently available for Leaf owners.
The automaker says the Nissan Energy Charge Network has more than 20,000 public charging points in Canada through charge partners ChargeHub, Shell Recharge and Tesla, with plans to add additional partners/networks in the future.
The intent of the plan is to improve the EV ownership experience and make it more convenient.
As for Leaf owners, Nissan Canada says they can search for charging locations through the NissanConnect EV and Services app.
NACS adapter
Later this year, Ariya drivers will also gain access to an available North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter, Nissan Canada said. The adapter would allow Ariya owners to charge at compatible Tesla Supercharger locations, which would greatly increase the number of charging stations they could access.
As of 2025, Nissan will also begin selling EVs in Canada and the United States with NACS ports built in.
