Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada and its network of dealers have stepped up to end hunger by donating $300,000 and 8,700 kilograms of food to Canadian food banks.

The effort, as part of the company’s 2024 Driving to End Hunger campaign, included Mitsubishi Motors of Canada donating $100,000 to Food Banks Canada, while Mitsubishi dealerships across the nation donated $200,000 and food to their local food banks.

“We are honoured to once again partner with Food Banks Canada for this year’s Driving to End Hunger

campaign. Food insecurity continues to be a significant issue and our dealers went above and beyond to help people in need in their communities,” said MMSCAN president and CEO Kenji Harada in a news release. “Selling vehicles is our business, but we are also in the people business and enriching society is one of our corporate priorities.”

Members of MMSCAN’s head office and parts distribution centre in Mississauga also volunteered at Food Banks Mississauga on World Food Day, Wednesday, Oct. 16, and donated more than 200 kilograms of food.

“World Food Day is a time to increase awareness of world hunger, food insecurity, and poverty, and to inspire solutions for change, together,” said Food Banks Canada CEO Kirstin Beardsley in the release. “We are incredibly grateful to Mitsubishi and its dealerships for donating $300,000 in food and funding this year to support Food Banks Canada and food banks across the country working tirelessly to support our vision of a Canada where no one goes hungry.”

Over the past four years, the company has donated more than $800,000 for food relief programs in Canada.
