Nissan has launched an all-new Murano, with the automaker promising a road-going sanctuary with premium style.
The new midsize SUV is launching as a 2025 model year and takes on a new exterior design that shows a family resemblance to some more recently launched Nissan vehicles.
The new Murano is 2.6 inches wider than the current model and the front-end takes on what Nissan calls a “Crystal Cube” LED headlight style and LED daytime running lights that produce a V-motion graphic.
You’ll also notice the side-vew mirrors are moved from the A-pillar to the doors for improved forward visibility.
The new model is also loaded with some premium features (more on these further down).
Powertrain
First, let’s take a look under the hood.
The new Murano is dropping the 3.5-litre V6 engine and is replacing it with a 2-litre four-cylinder variable-compression turbo (VC-Turbo) motor that produces 241 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque – that’s 19 less hp and 20 lb.-ft. more torque than the outgoing model.
The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, ditching the outgoing model’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission.
All trims of the Murano get all-wheel drive and towing capacity is 1,500 pounds.
Three trim levels are available for 2025, the SV, SL and Platinum.

Premium touches
Nissan calls the interior minimalist, modern and elegant with a horizontal design theme. There are standard dual 12.3-inch displays and stitched and soft materials throughout the cabin. Once seated, occupants only touch soft materials, the automaker points out.
The centre display is a touchscreen, giving occupants access to entertainment, vehicle information and more, while the screen in front of the driver is for the gauge cluster.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity is standard, while the SL and Platinum trims also get Google Built-in, which allows for use of apps such as Google Maps, Google Assistant and more.
The car gets push-button shifters, which frees up centre console space for other uses, such as the wireless phone charger and more. There are also two front and two rear USB-C ports.
All grades get active sound cancellation and the SL and Platinum models also get a 10-speaker Bose audio system.

There are three interior colour themes available, and semi-aniline quilted leather-appointed seats on the Platinum grade.
Heated front seats, heated steering wheel (now with a flatter bottom) and heated washer nozzles come standard, while available features include a panoramic moonroof, ventilated and massaging front seats, heated windshield and 64-colour ambient lighting throughout the cabin. The driver’s seat also has a wider range of lift and slide adjustments than before.
In the rear, there are available rear-door sunshades and heated rear seats. Thanks to a thinner front seat design, there is more knee room in the back, and the rear doors open wider to make it easier to get in and out. The rear seats also feature the Nissan Zero Gravity design, supporting a more supportive posture.
A power liftgate is standard while the Platinum model gets a motion-activated power liftgate.

Safety
The SUV comes standard with Nissan Safety Shield 360 and there’s an available 3D Intelligent Around View Monitor, allowing the driver to see from any one of eight vantage points around the SUV. An Invisible Hood View allows the driver to see, on the screen, as if they were looking through the engine bay, to have a clear view of what’s directly in front of the vehicle.
The SV model gets ProPilot Assist, which includes intelligent cruise control and steering assist, while the SL and Platinum models get ProPilot Assist 1.1, which uses navigation data to adjust the vehicle’s speed ahead of curves, when following a navigation route.
The new Murano also gets a passenger knee air bag and the rear seats get an under-seat reinforcement and seatbelt load timers and pretensioners for the rear seats.
Nissan says the new Murano will arrive at dealerships in early 2025 and pricing will be announced closer to its sale date.
